THE
ISLAND
AND IT'S POSSIBILITIES
|
|
| |
Green hills, endless coconut groves, turquoise-blue water
and countless beaches, that's how Tobago
presents itself to the arriving guests. Either you fly by
British Airways from London or by Condor
directly from Frankfurt/Germany. (Of course there are
various possibilities to get to Tobago
from the USA).
Quite a lot of time may be invested to explore the former
slave island even though it's only
300 km2. A large part of the island is covered by an
age-old rain forest which was declared a nature
reserve over 200 years ago. There are a lot of secluded
beaches to be explored allover the island.
Here you really feel like Robinson Crusoe.

Some of the
most beautiful diving areas in the
Caribbean are to be found around the island. If
you
are lucky you may encounter mantas, turtles or maybe
tiger sharks. The diving schools offer courses for
beginners as well as for advanced divers.
We recommend to visit www.worldofwatersports.com
Of course there are also beautiful
possibilities for sailing around the island. It's worth
to explore Tobago while sailing around. There are
different skippers offering day turns..

One of the most unique Caribbean beaches is "Pigeon
Point". The close Buccoo reef
offers you superb possibilities for snorkelling. The
visit of the "Nylon Pool" by a glassbottom
boat is just unforgettable. Pigeon Point is the only
beach which is not public. The owner charges
a small entry fee which isn't expensive considering the
infrastructure offered, such as
restaurant with bar, a diveshop, a surfboard rental,
several small and pretty souvenir shops.
Occasionally a steelband turns up to play Caribbean
tunes.

Trekking and
hiking: We recommend the rainforest
nature reserve to trekking and hiking. There are trails
leading into the bush. Professional guides are also
available. It is a special experience to discover this
very old jungle.
